For many people who are unable to get up and go to work everyday for one reason or another, they choose to use Amazon Mechanical Turk. Whether it be a psychological or physical disability such as what I go through everyday with my depression, anxiety, panic attacks, non-functioning leg, constant pan, and poor memory.
Anyway one way you can enhance your ability is to use a little script add on called Turkopticon that shows you which requestors on Amazon Mechanical Turk are shysters and which ones are legitimate. This is a very easy extension to install. It gives you an open view of requestors by showing you a 4 way grade system rating by other users that have already completed hits. Before I used it, I would get stuck with a few tricksters who would reject my work then later would send me a bonus just so my approval rating would dump. It is bogus that it happens, and Amazon has absolutely no incentive to fix it. But after using the Turkopticon I can see just how shyster a requestor is then choose to go for it or not.
Here is an example screen shot of Turkopticon. It works with Firefox and Chrome. Results may differ for each person. Since it is based on an honor system someone could always poison the results if they just don't like a certain requestor. But from what I have found with my experience it will vastly improve your hit approval ratio if you provide them with good work. This is an easy way to get mturk approvals. Free and easy way to auto tune your voice.
Browsing around today I found an interesting tutorial that teaches you how to auto tune your voice quickly and effectively. The folks over at Tinkernut have a great video illustrating the steps you'll need to take to make the magic audio happen or you can simply view the video below.
I have tried it myself and I must say that for being free it does seem to work very effectively.
Here are links to the things that you will need to make it happen for you.
First you need audacity.
(Special note: You need to make sure to get the beta version, otherwise the plugin will show slider menus and doesn't work right.)
Then you need the VST plugin.
(Special note: Simply install to the audacity\plug-ins folder)
Finally you'll need the actual GSnap plug in.
(Special notes: Get the skin version, then extract the archive to the audacity\plug-ins folder.)
After that just record or import your favorite voice. Run the effect and try out different combinations till you find just the right mix for you.
